【中文摘要】 纵观古今中外的艺术史，现实主义雕塑一直具有蓬勃的生命力。尤其是在军事题材的创作中，其地位是不可磨灭的。新中国社会主义现实主义军事雕塑的创作方法，加强了马克思主义文艺理论的引导，使文艺工作者得以沿着现实主义的创作方法和道路向前迈进，出现了大量优秀的作品。近些年来，包括雕塑艺术在内，现实主义受到了新的艺术观念和艺术形式的冲击，这与历史上任何时期都不同。一些现代派艺术手法在当前艺术界非常时髦，结果良莠不齐，致使真正有价值的见解和荒谬的观点相杂，各种粗糙和充满模仿痕迹的作品充斥于世。在这种情况下，某些人认为现实主义雕塑失去了其传统地位，跟不上时代的潮流。本文认为，这种认识是片面的。现实主义不是一个固步自封的概念，具有极大的包容性，艺术家应该发挥创造的主动性，与时俱进，广泛的吸收各种健康有益的表现形式为我所用，从现实的发展中真实地、历史的、具体地去描写现实。本文认为，现实主义在今后的军事题材创作仍然具有十分深远的社会和现实意义。
